Meet the maker / Rebecca

What do you do here at Robert Gordon?

I look after the day-to-day administration of the interiors side of Robert Gordon Pottery. My typical day would involve answering customer enquiries, sales, trade, and working with our distribution partners around Australia and New Zealand.

What do you like best about your job?

Every day is different, I work with a beautiful bunch of people! I love Interiors and seeing how our customers style our pieces. I also love creativity and seeing concepts come to life using clay.

Where else has your career taken you, what's your background?

I have always loved art and colour. I started off as a make-up artist for Bobbi Brown cosmetics and Clinque. I also have a passion for sales and customer service, and spent time working at David Jones in both customer service and logistics over the years. My love for interiors and styling also brought forward a passion for renovating and designing homes, which I have done with my husband and 3 boys. I studied ceramics in VCE so I'm very lucky to come back full circle to a subject I truly loved!

Where are you from?

I grew up in Melbourne, Australia.

What is your favourite place?

My favourite place is anywhere near the beach, as I have fond memories of holidays spending time down at Safety Beach on the peninsula with my family.

What's your favourite glaze? Do you have any pieces of RG pottery that are extra special to you?

I love Saltbush, Coast, and White Ochre. Pretty much all of them! I love our Australian Made ceramics and that every piece is bespoke and special.

Do you have any tips for customers selecting a basin or light for their renovation?

As for selecting our lights or basins, it is always great to purchase some colour chips to place near your selected tiles, wall paint, and vanity top. This is to make sure the glazes are going to work in your imagined space.

Always look at the specification sheets for dimensions, vanities come in many sizes, this will make sure the basin is in proportion for your space.

If in doubt, add a pop of colour! Our White Ochre, Saltbush, or Rivergum glazes are a popular choice and pair beautifully with timber vanities and warm colour palettes.

How long have you been at Robert Gordon for?

Nearly 3 years now.

What else do you do for fun outside of work?

I love watching my boys play basketball, camping with family and friends and perusing local markets and antique stores.
